מדברות
סוכה זו אינה כשרה במובן
ההלכתי, משום שהאור
שבתוכה רב מהצל.
ואף על פי כן, בעיני יוצרה
– כשרה ואהובה היא, ואולי
אילו היו ההלכות עגולות
יותר ונוקשות פחות, הן לא
היו זרות כל כך ליהודים רבים,
ואנו היינו מתקרבים עוד זה
לזה ולתרבותנו.
This sukkah isn’t kosher in
the halakhic sense, because
the sunlight exceeds the
shade. Nevertheless, in the
eyes of its creator, it is kosher
and beloved. If halakhah
rounded its corners more
and was less rigid, it wouldn’t
be so off-putting to many
Jews, and we would all move
closer to one another and to
our culture.
