First meeting: Living with Memory

Screening of the prizewinning film: Summer of Aviya (Eli Cohen, 1988).  The film is an intensely human story seen through the eyes and perceptions of a child.  Originally a one-woman theater production starring Gila Almagor, the film tells her own personal story, an in-depth study of the shame that she felt as a child, growing up in 1950's Israel with a mother who was forever tormented by her past.
