The Challenges of Prophecy: Does the Prophet Feel “At Home” in His/Her Mission? - Dr. Tova Ganzel

With: Tova Ganzel

God sends the prophet to deliver a message. To what extent does the prophet feel “at home” in delivering that message? To what extent does the prophet feel that he/she is simply fulfilling God’s command?

Often we portray the prophets as passive individuals, mere tools for the transmission of prophetic messages between God and His people. In this session, we will ask: To what extend did prophets feel “at home” as transmitters? To what extent did they reconcile themselves to being sent to confront the people around them?

Dr. Tova Ganzel is the Director of the Midrasha at Bar-Ilan University, and is one the first trained women’s halakhic advisors (Yoatzot Halacha), and is a renowned figure in the world of women’s Jewish learning.
