Freedom

The Passover Haggadah invites us to ask what true freedom is and how one attains it. At first glance, Soviet Jewry’s struggle for personal and national freedom seems entirely different from the miraculous Exodus from Egypt. But in a conversation exploring the role of the Plague of the Firstborn (Makat Bechorot), the Parting of the Sea, and the Revelation at Sinai within the Haggadah text, we will uncover the eternal truths passed down from generation to generation – truths that accompany every individual on their journey toward freedom: the battle with fear, the necessity of taking personal risks, and the search for the “why” that helps us overcome any “how.”
