We will examine the attitude toward the “other” in the Book of Ruth in light of the repeated commandment in the Torah to love the stranger. A careful reading of the verses of the Megillah will reveal a disappointing social reality that requires a thorough correction. This correction begins with the acceptance of a Torah whose meaning is not limited only to the Commandments but also to the understanding of the divine expectation from mankind.
