Harbinger of Redemption

In the first centuries AD, the idea crystallized that Elijah would be involved in the eschaton. We will examine how medieval Christians and Jews in Europe discussed Elijah’s eschatological role and how these mutually exclusive approaches to the future reflected contemporary struggles of identity.
