Post Oslo Accords Period

As Jerusalem entered a new era, different issues had to be dealt with which impacted the development of the city, beginning with the first intifada, the Oslo peace accords and the construction of the separation wall, and continuing with the extremism of and growing tension between various religious communities.

Jerusalem is also one of the most contested, volatile and politicized spaces in the modern world. At the same time, Jerusalem is also a normal city, where just about a million residents live their daily lives, working, shopping and playing with their children. The city's landscape, its architecture and its urban development are the fruit of the tension between the holy and the quotidian.
